Tasks - Weekly Checklist (Click on the yellow button to be linked to the checklist)End of Year DATES - PowerPoint to use in class!Guidance on Ferpa and E-MailFERPA generally prohibits the disclosure of personally identifiable information derived from education records to persons who are not authorized to see that information. However, nothing in FERPA addresses any particular form of communication, such as email. In fact, FERPA became law years before the first commercial public email service was created, which, itself, was years before the use of email became commonplace. To mitigate the risk of email being received by persons not authorized to receive the information, there are several steps that you should take: 1) Double-check the addressee to be certain that you are directing the email only to the intended recipient; 2) Only use the email address of record for the parent/guardian/learning coach; 3) Do not “reply to all”; 4) Set a rule in Outlook that delays email from exiting your outbox so that you have time to stop an email from being sent if you suddenly realize it has been mis-addressed. A delay of at least one minute is preferred. See the section titled “Delay the delivery of all messages” here for instructions on how to set up the delay: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Delay-or-schedule-sending-email-messages-253dbfd7-0db7-4f41-bcc5-9e8e68ae29bf ; and 5) When sending a message to a learning coach, guardian or parent, include only the pertinent and minimum personal identifying information about the student. You may, for example, be able to simply refer to the student by his or her first name or grade level. Some states have additional student privacy requirements, often relating to the use of student information. School Administrators employed by K12 can work with their regional and legal teams for guidance. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions! K12 FYI'sClass Connect Enhancement
School Services Team: Teacher Effectiveness Point of Contact: Guadalupe Vander Ploeg Action: For your information On 3/19/17 we are scheduled to deploy enhancements to the Class Connect Scheduler, which will simplify scheduling and create flexibility for students and learning coaches attending sessions. On 3/14/17 we discovered that one of those enhancements, allowing students to enter a session early, was deployed a bit earlier than expected and is now live. The remaining updates will be released according to schedule. Please also note that in earlier messaging there was discussion of allowing the attendee name to be based on Preferred Name. That functionality will no longer be included in the release.

Senior Pass Focus In Staff Call Friday, March 10, we talked about our focus on seniors and how important it is to work with them to bring them to passing. Brittney made a great video explaining how to look up the Seniors and also shared the Senior Hot List, so this is just a reminder not to lose the focus. We can help our seniors and improve our graduation rate at the same time. High School Outing: March 17, 2017 our Staff Call has been cancelled so that you may have the opportunity to travel to Draper for the High School Outing at Boondocks. Enjoy the time away from your computer and visiting with the High School Students. Enjoy your week! Announcements from Brittney

K12 FYI'sSummit English 6-8 and 11 Course Development Teacher Feedback Panel
School Services Team: Product Management Action: Please Distribute Survey Link Do you have English Leads or teachers in grades 6-8 or 11 that would like to occasionally participate in activities to review the new Summit English course development? If so, please pass on the survey link below! Some of the review activities may have short turn-around times, which we know that not everyone may be able to meet. This is fine—teachers will have multiple opportunities for review and we will welcome their feedback, both asynchronously and occasionally synchronously. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SumEng Celebrate Pi Day! School Services Team: Teacher Effectiveness Action: For Distribution to Teachers at Schools without K12 Instructional Coaches, For Your Information at Schools with K12 Instructional Coaches Next week folks around the world will celebrate Math’s favorite holiday: Pi Day! We’ll be sharing this out with teachers through the Academic Services Facebook page and the Instructional Coaching March Newsletter. If the teachers at your school do not have K12 Instructional Coaches or don’t follow the AS Facebook page we encourage you to send this resource document directly to your teachers! And don’t forget to get in on the fun yourself? How will you create Pi Day excitement and fun in your school community? Pi the Principal anyone? Senior HOT ListThere are a lot of things out of our control at this school... BUT, there are also several things that are in our control here. While our graduation rate hasn't been the best, we can focus on helping the seniors in our courses pass. The block courses are already working on a senior hot list, but I'd like for each teacher to get a hot list of their own so you can start encouraging those seniors to pass! You can do this by following these steps:
Feel free to check out the block course senior hot list and help encourage any students that may be in your classes as well. If we can work together as a team and help these kids graduate, it will help pull our school out of focus school status :). We can do it!!!! Calendar
