A Little Back to School Motivation for you!
FAST Extended Strong Start Link Amberly Shared in Staff CallFill out this form if they are missing at least two of the below criteria. Please make sure your first step for FAST is to give them the info and link to LuAnn's Learning Coach University! •https://www.smore.com/qzg5g Numbers Update from MeghanUTVA HS Enrollment: 772 UTVA PT: 166 Total HS Enrollment: 938 Classes: There are still a few student’s without schedules for varies reasons: Upper classmen w/o transcripts or recently approved students. This will be about the same as we keep approving students for the next couple of weeks. But in case you hear that a student “doesn’t have a schedule” there is a reason and counselors are working HARD and probably deserve a big THANK YOU! Classrooms: All students are placed in a classroom, as of 9 Sunday night. This means the students have access to the course. If you hear of an issue that a student has the course on their schedule, but can’t access it, it’s usually a classroom assignment problem Calendar
Async Track Application Process: Once a student meets the requirements (found in document below) for either the blue or yellow track, they can fill out the application form link. Approval can take up to 5 school days and student will be notified of either approval or denial via school email! Blue Track application link: https://goo.gl/forms/8OUa57AZgpfiKYjo2 Yellow Track Application link: https://goo.gl/forms/qN1sjbMNabhf7dnU2 Here are a pdf and word document that you are more than welcome to share with your students. I will also be posting this on the utvahs.weebly.com website for students and I will be sending out an email to all students as well! Another thing I forgot to mention... Just like last year, all Part Time students are considered Yellow Track automatically! Auto-DialsIt is really important that we start off EXTREMELY strong with our auto-dials for missed classes so that we can set a strong standard for class attendance. If you are not set up to send your auto-dials on Monday after your orientations, please reach out to Brittney ASAP! AssemblyThe assembly is ready to go and the ClassConnect has been scheduled. I think I was able to invite everyone, but if you didn't receive an invite here is the link: lms.k12.com/lms/go/classConnect/PJ3JAJCJMJVJAJ0-5JMJGJCJ2JHJD-P-R-D909F99-09E9U9T9HJIJOJMJR-HJ9J3KUJ3JF9B-V-3-W-P-P-E-O9IJGJPJ8JQ-IJP-7JJJQJ0JBJDJR-5-3-I9J-1-29F97-3-L-F9M9Q9 Please come prepared to help me moderate the chat and provide a fun and inviting environment for our students! What has the FAST team been up to in July?
Check out this AWESOME UTVA Connections Newsletter LuAnn has created and is sending out to families next week!!
The FASTeam has been busy back at work during the month of July! Here are a few things we have worked on:
Also, by way of information, UTVA was invited to participate in a Parent Liaison pilot program during June, July, and August. LuAnn was asked to oversee this program. Prospective parents are able to connect with a Learning Coach via email from the utva.k12.com site. Six parents were handpicked and hired as UTVA Parent Liaisons and are featured on the site. Parents fill out the Let’s Connect form and LuAnn assigns them with one of our Parent Liaisons. The Parent Liaison then beings correspondence with this family via email. So far our requests are low but K12 marketing and UTVA marketing are working hard to get the word out to prospective families about this program. Those who have participated really appreciate the opportunity to talk to a LC. We have had four families who used this program successfully enroll with UTVA. The other families who used the program realized this school model was not for them. This is a proactive way to make sure all families considering UTVA make an informed decision before they join us!
The FASTeam has been busy back at work during the month of July! Here are a few things we have worked on:
- We had a F2F PD the first week of July where we collaborated about changes to Strong Start/Onboarding for this year, finalized our handbook for the 16-17 school year, learned how to organize and use OneNote, had a training from Meghan on the new Total View Action and tweaked some items for FAST referrals.
- We have been contacting students all month who ended the school year in FAST, just to build relationships with them. We’re asking what fun things they have done this summer and just checking on them in a non-school related way.
- We’ve spent time putting together presentations for Strong Start and for new FAST referrals. FYI:All students who ended the year in the FAST program will be required to complete a modified Strong Start at the beginning of this school year, to help ensure their success.

Tasks for this Week
- If you live farther than 90 miles from the office, please fill out this survey asap. If this survey is not filled out you may not have convenient accommodations as hotels are limited during our PD dates
- Create welcome videos to send your students for your course (which you'll probably want to include more process/procedure, expectation kind of an intro).
- Elements to include are:
- A warm greeting from you
- A little bit about yourself so they can begin making connections with you
- your expectations for them
- Anything else you want to give it your own feel and introduce them to the culture of YOUR classroom
- Elements to include are:
- Begin K12 training on Tuesday.
- First thing you'll need to do is go into your account and change your supervisor to Vicki Peterson.
- Next we can GET moving on this! We know how difficult it's been in years past to try to complete this when we're moving full speed ahead so our new friend William Johnston helped us get this date moved up so we have these 3 weeks before school starts to get trained and set up for success!
