MAKE and KEEP your power promise!Yep. That’s it. Sounds simple, right? Because it is! As simple as it may be, it is so, so powerful, and it is truly THE #1 transformation tool, no matter what type of transformation journey you’re on—from weight loss to weight gain, sports performance, or even transforming your confidence—it works.
The Power Promise is a single, simple, attainable commitment that you know you can keep every day. Starting off, your Power Promise activates your transformation. It is the most basic form of action toward your goal. As long as you are keeping your Power Promise, you’re in the game. The moment you quit is the moment you stop keeping your Power Promise. Here are 5 simple steps to assist you in keeping this essential Power Promise: 1. Make it so small that it is virtually unbreakable. 2. Declare it—loud and proud—to yourself and those around you. And make sure you say “I will” instead of “I want to.” That adds extra power to your promise! 3. As you build your confidence in keeping your Power Promise you may add more, but only make as many promises at one time as you know you can keep. 4. Prepare, prepare, prepare…and prepare. You must aggressively defend this promise to keep your transformation alive! 5. Be patient with yourself and set realistic expectations. No matter how hard you try or how solid your intentions are, you will slip up from time to time. We all do—myself included—and not only is this okay, but it means you are human after all. Learn from that slip up and begin again. Your Power Promise can be whatever you want it to be. Entire article HERE: From Natalie R: Now that our class lists are calming down I started making my CC sessions with the fancy optional/required for each type of student like we talked about doing weeks ago. You have to manually update when new students get added. That’s the big downside. But it should get us much better CC data. I jing’ed it in case other teachers wanted to do the same thing. Here’s the link if you want it: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cbQFfQIqwA WeeklyChecklist: HERE Hey Team,

From Brittney: Hey Team, You are already starting to feel some of the strain and urgency that comes with these late start students that are being added to your courses daily! While we can’t control the late students being enrolled, we can definitely control our reaction to it so we are going to have a solid plan in place and ready to go. (And remember – there is an end in sight to these late starters). So here is the plan:
Please reach out to your dept. lead or myself if you have any questions with these students! Plan now and save yourself time down the road J 2. Click on this link and fill out the ESS survey. 4. Improving Communication with Parents Tip: We are in a virtual school and are challenged with the ability to communicate effectively without eye contact, body language, and actual human presence. I am asking you to read this quick article HERE about improving communication with parents. After you read it, put it into action. Find at least 5 times this week to let a LEARNING COACH know that they matter and that their student is known. Our teamwork synergy with parents is one of most CRITICAL things for our success as a school. Before you send an email, filter it one time through your mind as if you were the parent receiving that type of communication and how you would react. 5. Virtual PD Friday: 9.1.2017 @9am-12am (YES, only ½ day) in http://tinyurl.com/utvaddi REMINDER: (cancel live classes for that day to be present and productive in PD)

Work from Home TipsWorking from home can present a unique set of challenges, especially when it comes to your health. The abundance of alluring snacks in the kitchen, the lack of social stimulation and the temptation to work in an ergonomically unsound position, like in bed, can all sabotage an otherwise virtuous worker’s best health intentions.
Schedule workouts. When you create your schedule, use the flexibility to your advantage. Schedule your workouts as you do meetings -- but pencil them in before you begin working, during lunch or after hours. Schedule active meetings.Arrange to meet colleagues at the gym to discuss work, so you can get your work and workout done at the same time. Create a soothing environment. Staying home means you have free rein over your surroundings, so make your work area soothing and keep your stress level under control. If you love scented candles, place them around your desk. If a beautiful view helps you stay calm, set up your desk in front of a window or within eyesight of artwork you enjoy. Maintain a healthy work-life balance by logging your time and setting limits. Track your hours and keep yourself accountable. Don’t let work bleed over into your personal time, or vice versa. Avoid working on weekends if you can, and keep an eye on how much time you’re spending on work every day. Keep the kitchen stocked with healthy snacks and meals. It can be easy to wander into the kitchen when you know it’s packed with treats, so keep temptation at bay by buying fresh fruits and vegetables, and keeping the candy and junk food out of sight. Get showered and dressed as if you’re going to the office. Some experts believe that you adopt the characteristics associated with what you’re wearing. In fact, one 2012 study found that people who thought they were wearing a doctor’s lab coat displayed heightened attention, while those who were told it was a "painter’s" coat weren’t as attentive. The authors said they believed that “the influence of clothes thus depends on wearing them and their symbolic meaning.” So, instead of staying in your pajamas all day, put on an outfit you’d likely wear to the office. Feeling competent isn’t just about productivity: Research has shown that self-efficacy has a positive impact on health behaviors, including weight control and exercise. AnnouncementsCalendar
